William "Bubbles” Murphy, Jr., 75 of Zanesville, died 3:26 AM, Thursday, March 18, 2021, at Genesis Hospital Emergency Department following a sudden illness. He was born Sunday, December 30, 1945, in Birmingham, AL, the son of William Murphy, Sr., and Eunice (Conethan) Murphy. He married Mary E. (Kelley) Murphy on Monday, November 19, 1979, and was a member of Greater Apostolic Church of Christ. Bubbles retired following many years of service from the American Light Company. He was known for coaching all types of sports in the Zanesville area. He loved to coach football, basketball, softball and baseball and was an inspiration to many of the youth in our area. He loved to bowl, was an avid reader who always had a book in his hand, and was a master gardener who was very proud of his yard and garden. Bubbles is survived by six children: Terry L. Murphy, Myron L (Mary) Murphy, Michael W. Murphy, Tyrone A. “T.J.” Murphy, and John A. Murphy all of Zanesville, and Shiloh Marie (Dominique) Harris of Seattle; seventeen grandchildren and many great grandchildren; five siblings: Ocie Murphy, Jim Murphy, Jack Murphy, David Murphy and Sady Murphy, and life-long friend: Dale Goins. In addition to his parents, Bubbles was preceded in death by his wife: Mary Murphy who died June 4, 2013; one son: Victor Charles Murphy who died October 29, 2006; one brother: Robert Murphy and long-time friend: Gary Steele. Friends may call Monday, March 22, 2021, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM, at the Hillis, Combs & Nestor Funeral Home, 935 Forest Avenue, Zanesville. Private Family Funeral Services will be held at a later date with Elder Terrence Brown officiating. Bubbles will be laid to rest beside his beloved wife in Woodlawn Cemetery.
