Ruth A. Lowther, 98 of Zanesville, died 1:26 AM, Wednesday, February 2, 2022, at Genesis Hospital, following a sudden illness. She was born Sunday, April 15, 1923, in Buckingham, Ohio, the daughter of Joseph Knaup and Anna (Buck) Knaup. She was married to Harold Olin Lowther on Monday, April 23, 1945, and was a member of Sonora United Methodist Church. Ruth loved to bake, toll paint, and painted pottery during WWII for several local potteries. She was a loving and caring wife and mother who loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Ruth is survived by two sons: Randy & Dottie Lowther and Dan & Judy Lowther both of Zanesville; four grandchildren: Brian (Anne Barnhart) Lowther, Emily Adams, Zak “Vern” Lowther, and Stephanie Pryor; five great grandchildren: Mason, Grant, Logan, Jacob and Raelyn; one brother: Joe Knaup and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her husband: Harold Olin Lowther; four siblings: Fredie Knaup, Christine Mock, Geraldine Tinkham and Millie Cox and sister-in-law: Dorothy Knaup. Private family services will be held and Ruth will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband in St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery.
