Rita M. Pitts, 75 formerly of Heath and Zanesville, died 6:20 PM, Tuesday, May 25, 2021, at Arlington Court Health & Rehab in Columbus, following a lengthy illness. She was born Saturday, April 6, 1946, in Zanesville, the daughter of John Willard Weaver and Mary Margaret (Rebel) Weaver. Rita was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel in Buckeye Lake and a former member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church. Rita worked at Pac-Tec Inc, McNaughton-McKay Electric, The Billing Connection and Brown Distribution retiring in February of 2014. Rita filled her days laughing with family, playing with her grandchildren and loving her pets. She was an avid reader and enjoyed novels by Fern Michaels. She was a hard worker and spent many Saturday’s volunteering with Habitat for Humanity. Rita is survived by two daughters: Julie M. Pitts of Heath and Tracey A. (Juan) Castrejon of Dublin; two granddaughters: Atiana & Adriana Castrejon; one grandson: Gabriel Castrejon; one sister: Marilyn (Weaver) Rundag; one brother-in-law: Michael Rundag; nieces and nephews: Lisa Rundag, Mary (Thomas) Rundag-Gannon, Cynthia Rundag, Christopher (Peg) Rundag and John (Penny) Rundag and her special friend: Karen (Michael) Bergum. In addition to her parents, Rita was preceded in death by one sister: Karen S. (Weaver) Rundag and her brother-in-law: George J. Rundag, Jr. Friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 PM, Tuesday, June 1, 2021, at the Hillis, Combs & Nestor Funeral Home, 935 Forest Avenue, Zanesville, where a Christian Vigil will be held at 6:45 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated 10:30 AM, Wednesday, June 2, 2021, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, 945 East Main Street, Zanesville, with Fr. Martin J. Ralko as Celebrant.
