Richard A. "Dick" Haren, 88 of Zanesville died 3:08 PM, Sunday, August 16, 2015 at Genesis Morrison House Hospice in Zanesville. He was born Saturday, February 12, 1927 in Cambridge, the son of Roman Richard Haren and Mary Belle (Wittmer) Haren. He was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church. Richard served in the United States Army during World War II. He was a Life member of the Zanesville VFW Post 1058, a Life member of the Knights of Columbus and one of the founders of the Perry Township Volunteer Fire Dept. Dick was a coach of the girls fast pitch softball team, "Easy Method" and enjoyed spending time at the Senior Center and leading the prayer before lunches and bowling in the Senior League. He is survived by one sister-in-Law, Bertha Haren of Zanesville; nieces and nephews, Marlene (Robert) Whissle, Maxine (Harold) West all of Zanesville, Jim (Diana) Haren of Newark, Joseph (Trudie) Haren of Dresden, Jane (Dave) Leasure, Jean West, Michael (Linda) Haren, Jeff Haren and Tammy, Jerry Haren and Tena, and Misty (Matt) Grimm all of Zanesville, Judith (Larry) Weiner of McConnelsville, Lorraine (John) Tucci of Russells Point, Janet (Pat) Dolan of Springfield and 31 great nieces and nephews and his many friends at the Senior Center. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers, Paul, Clyde, and Clarence Haren and one nephew John "Jack" R. Haren; sister-in-law, Betty Haren and a great, great grandniece Katelin Haren. Friends may call from 2:00-4:00 PM & 6:00-8:00 PM on Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at the Hillis, Combs & Nestor Funeral Home, 935 Forest Avenue, Zanesville, OH where a prayer vigil will take place at 7:45 PM. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10:30 AM on Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church with Fr. Martin Ralko as Celebrant. Burial will conclude in the St. Paul Cemetery in Sonora with the U. S. Army and VFW Post 1058 conducting full military honors.
