Mark J. Dosch

February 22, 1950 - September 9, 2021

Mark J. Dosch, 71 of Zanesville, died 1:00 AM, Thursday, September 9, 2021, at Genesis Hospital following a brief illness. He was born Wednesday, February 22, 1950, in Zanesville, the son of Francis J. Dosch and Hilaria B. (Mehling) Dosch and was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church. Mark spent his entire career as an educator beginning as an English Teacher with West Muskingum High School. Mark continued his teaching career with Rosecrans High School in 1975, teaching English and retired as Assistant Principal following many years of dedicated service. Mark was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council # 505, Southeastern Ohio Council of Teachers of English, National Council of Teachers of English, and Ohio Catholic Education Association. Mark also received the Diocese of Columbus Educator of the Year. Mark is survived by his siblings: Martha Carpenter of Zanesville, Monica (Joe) Tumeo of Defiance, Howard (Pat) Dosch of South Bend, IN, and George Dosch of Columbus; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, and sisters-in-law: Mary Lou Dosch and Bernie Dosch. In addition to his parents, Mark was preceded in death by his siblings: Paul Dosch, Sr. Miriam Dosch, Harry (Ginny) Dosch, Ralph Dosch, and John Dosch; brother-in-law: Paul Carpenter and sister-in-law: Linda Dosch. Friends may call 2:00 to 4:00 & 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Sunday, September 12, 2021, at the Hillis, Combs & Nestor Funeral Home, 935 Forest Avenue, Zanesville, where a Christian Vigil will be held at 7:45 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 AM, Monday, September 13, 20212, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, 925 East Main Street, Zanesville, with Fr. Martin J. Ralko as celebrant. Mark will be laid to rest in Mt. Olive Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Francis & Hilaria Dosch Scholarship Fund, c/o Rosecrans High School, Bishop Fenwick School, or St. Nicholas Church in Mark’s memory.
