John A. Rock, 75 of Zanesville, died 4:15 AM, Thursday, September 15, 2016 at Zanesville Health & Rehabilitation Center following a brief illness. He was born Tuesday, February 18, 1941 in Zanesville, the son of Charles C. Rock and Agnes R. (Armbrust) Rock. He married Maxine (Mercer) Rock on Thursday, December 3, 2015 and was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church. John graduated from Bishop Rosecrans High School Class of 1959. He retired following over 44 years of service with Armco Steel. He was a member of Motor Menders Car Club. He was an outstanding grandfather who enjoyed attending all of his grandchildren’s events. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and especially loved attending and helping with Cody Parker Racing. John loved the outdoors and gardening on the family farm. John is survived by his wife; five children: Dee (John) Ginikos of Nashport, Erin Rock & Cathy (Andy Cameron) Parker both of Zanesville; Gail Rock of Newark and Chad (Sheri) Rock of Ft. Collins, CO; two stepchildren: Cherie Bronkar and Rob (Monica) Davis both of Zanesville; 15 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren; one brother: Charles (Barbara) Rock of Zanesville and several nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his parents. Friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 PM, Friday, September 16, 2016 at the Hillis, Combs & Nestor Funeral Home, 935 Forest Avenue, Zanesville, where a Christian Vigil will be held at 6:45 PM. A funeral service will be held 10:30 AM, Saturday, September 17, 2016 at Hillis, Combs & Nestor Funeral Home, 935 Forest Avenue, Zanesville, with Father Martin Ralko officiating.
