Blanche Marie Walker

Blanche Marie Walker, 92 of Zanesville, died peacefully at 9:40 PM, Sunday, September 30, 2018, at Cedar Hill Care Center. She was born Saturday, March 20, 1926, in Muskingum County, the daughter of John H. Barnett and Blanche J. (Brady) Barnett. She married Milton 'Buddy' M. Walker, Jr. on October 3, 1942, and was a member of Greater Apostolic Church of Christ. Blanche was a graduate of Poro Beauty College and was beautician operating her own shop in Zanesville, for over 54 years. She also served as the Staff Beautician for the Hillis Funeral Home for over 52 years. Upon retirement Blanche donated her equipment to the Pioneer & Historical Society to keep a living history. During WWII she served her country as a welder in California, working on government battleships and air craft for the war. Blanche was very active with her church, Greater Apostolic Church of Christ, where she enjoyed helping cook for many church functions. For over 30 years she loved spending time at her cabin at Seneca Lake. Blanche was a loving and caring soul who will be missed by many. Blanche is survived by one daughter: Cochita M. "Chi Chi” Walker of Zanesville; one goddaughter and niece: Retha Chandler of Zanesville, and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Blanche was preceded in death by her husband: Milton M. “Buddy” Walker, Jr. who died October 12, 2002; six sisters: Nora Barnett, Alta Wright, Thelma Simpson, Letha Norris, Betty Roberts & Ruth Barnett and five brothers: Charles, George, Johnny, Paul & Joseph Barnett. Friends may call from 2:00 to 4:00 & 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Thursday, October 4, 2018, at the Hillis, Combs & Nestor Funeral Home, 935 Forest Avenue, Zanesville. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM, Friday, October 5, 2018, at Greater Apostolic Church of Christ, 1651 State Street, Zanesville, with Elder Terrence E. Brown officiating.
