June 19, 1953 - February 19, 2021
On Friday, February 19, 2021, at 7:14 pm, Belita “Sister Belita” Dardanella Lofton, 67, went up yonder to be with her Lord, following a brief Illness. Though no longer present in body, she is dearly missed by her loved ones, who celebrate the fact that she is at peace with her Creator. One of thirteen children born to the late Willie Ford, Sr. and Mary (Terry) Ford, Belita was born in Bellaire, OH on June 19, 1953. She graduated from Bellaire High School in 1971, after which she went on to pursue a degree in Early Childhood Education from Muskingum Area Technical College. She was immersed in the Apostolic Faith as a child and dedicated her life to doing God’s work. Over the years, she relocated to Columbus, and became a very active member at Grace Apostolic Church, where she was loved by many of her brothers and sisters in Christ. She possessed a contagious smile and an entertaining sense of humor and was known for her ease in frequent conversation with even total strangers. Throughout her life, she maintained a sweet and simple demeanor that won the trust and hearts of all who met her. Her signature gift of joy, shown through her constant smiling, laughter, and joking around, will never be forgotten. She faithfully cared for family and friends through prayer and fasting; a prayer warrior among us. Her passions were many, and included reading Scripture and writing Scripture verses, composing Scripture-based written works, crocheting, and making her famous homemade bread and spaghetti dinners. Yet, her greatest accomplishment will forever be the endless time spent with her grandsons. Belita was blessed with a large and loving family. She is survived by three children: daughter, Una Jackson and son-in-law, Ranji of Knoxville, TN; son, Jacob Lofton and daughter-in-law Keely of East Fultonham; daughter, Keturah Lofton of Columbus; grandsons, Seryantes and Kingston Torres-Lofton; her 4 sisters: Tanara, Francheska, Vashti, and Ritheen; her brothers: Willie, Stephen, Ian, Quin, Levin, and Ozend. Unfortunately, there are too many beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews to count, but they are deeply loved. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers: Flavius and Darius Ford. In place of a funeral, the family has chosen to have a family memorial service which will take place at a later date.
